Thirza Dekker speaks:
What to do with?
PMU needle configuration Magnum
Video developed by: Thirza Dekker
First of all, it’s of course very personal which PMU needle you prefer to work with. It’s good to know what you can do with each needle module configuration. In upcoming blogs, we’ll focus more on the various PMU needles available.
The 1P Round Liner is, of course, fantastic, but besides the single-point needle, there are plenty of other options for PMU. In addition to the well-known Round Liner (which we’ll discuss in more detail later), Amavi also sells Round Shader and Magnum needles. The latter, the Magnum, is a versatile PMU needle, and we’ll discuss it further in this blog.

What is a Magnum PMU needle?
The Magnum was originally a tattoo needle and, due to its versatility, is becoming increasingly popular in the world of PMU. You can use it to draw lines, shade endlessly, and fill in areas completely.
At Amavi, they sell the 3-point & 5-point Curved Magnum from Vertix Nano and Kwadron PMU Optima. These configurations are ideal for PMU because we work on small areas, hence the smaller configurations of 3, 5, 7, and 9. In tattooing, a Magnum can sometimes be as large as 112 points! Vertix needles are known for their beautiful, fine (thin) needles, which have been specially developed for PMU and precise work.
In a Curved Magnum, there are two rows of needles arranged in a U-shape
, one above the other. One row of needles always has an odd number, and the other row has an even number. The 3 Magnum needle is an exception to this; with a 3 Magnum, you have a row of 3 curved, tapered needles (UM). This Magnum 3 needle module is great for hairstrokes with depth and for fine shading techniques. With the 5 Magnum needle, you have a row of 3 and a row of 2 needles arranged one above the other.

What is a Magnum PMU needle module used for?
We’ve filmed the possibilities of this versatile PMU needle for you; see the video at the top of the page.
Do you
use the Magnum for PMU lips? Then the lip treatment is completed faster and causes less trauma. Magnum for eyebrows How to use it? Use the Magnum to create deep hairstrokes and stunning, quick shading. It’s definitely worth experimenting more with this great needle!

When should you use the Magnum needle for PMU?
Personally, I find the Magnum pleasant to use for PMU lips. Because lips have fine angles, curves, and contours, you can do a lot with the Magnum needle module.

Using the Magnum configuration for PMU lips
You can use the Magnum needle module for horizontal and vertical shading at 90 degrees, with the middle needle doing most of the work. With the vertical method, you cover a larger area immediately, and even when working horizontally, you’ll see that the middle needles produce a narrower result but provide good pigmentation.
If you deviate from the 90-degree angle, you can beautifully darken the middle section, and with the short needles, you can shade more softly. This way, with the right pressure and technique, you can finish coloring lips, for example, in no time. Do you want a fully colored lip right away? Then you can deviate slightly from the 90-degree angle and make circular motions with the curved needle. You’ll see that it covers at least three times as fast as with a single-point needle. The Magnum needle module is therefore more comfortable for the client because you finish faster and it causes less trauma to the skin.

Using the Magnum configuration for PMU eyeliner & eyebrows
Once you have mastered the techniques and know exactly what you can do with the Magnum needle, you can also use it to apply eyeliner and eyebrows. You can apply a simple yet dark eyeliner in a single pass with the Magnum because you can work with 2 of the 3 needles. That’s great for the client and saves you time as a PMU specialist!
Would you prefer a powdery eyeliner? Then rotate your Magnum so that it immediately creates three soft powder lines on top of each other. When used correctly, you can even create beautiful lines—and thus hairstrokes—with the Magnum PMU needle.
The Magnum PMU needle module is a versatile PMU needle that allows you to go in literally and figuratively any direction. Adjust your working angle for the desired result.
